NetWeaver Slim SP11 DB Max Installation phase 5 of 24

Hi !

I am installing NW04SP11 Sneak version on Windows XP

1 GB RAM. While installation, process stopped or may be running for a while at MaxDB Database installation step which is Phase 5 of 24. On the logs, I can see few error messages, how can I resolve these issues. Should I wait & let it run for more time or cancel & try to correct these errors first ?

I got the following errors when I clicked View Log button

Appreciate help for this & waiting for reply so that I can do any action on this one. This process is taking up all the resources of my system (CPU 99%, > 70% Memory)

You're seeing this because you don't have enough RAM so the JVM is on your HD. Everytime there is a garbage collection it takes much longer. Just let it run.

Working directory changed to C:/Program Files/sapinst_instdir/j2ee_wp/installdefault.

It is now 2:48 pm, about 2 hrs..it did not log any message, but it is still running...is it because of same RAM issue ? Please reply.

That would be my guess. How big is your page file?

Paging File size is 768-1536MB

I would say that based on that, the VM is on your hard disk and that would account for the slow times.

Hello!

I changed file page size to 1536-3072 MB & continue the installation (run old installation option) again today. It is stll running at Phase 5 of 24 (Max DB Installation).

Do I missing something prior to installation or I need to upgrade my system ??

Current system configuration is as follow

Windows XP Service Pack 1 Version 1.2.0.22(7/24/04)

Intel processor @1.4 GHz / 1GB RAM

Does any one have problem like this while installation ? Please share your thoughts or send sugestions.

My guess is that you are a little short on RAM and that is causing the delay in the deployment. Is there HD activity during the installation.

I am upgrading my laptop to 2GB RAM & also high processor speed next week.

I hope this will solve my problem.

Is it OK to install Java Edition which has WAS, NW Dev Studio, EP, KM & Other framework on my new system

Should be ok. The trick is making sure that the entire SAP VM fits in the available RAM.

Are you able to fix your issue.I am installing netweaver and facing same problem during stage 5.

Could you please let me know how to overcome this problem.
