Nuber ranges clarification

Hi all,

Please clarify on the following problem with respect to number ranges:

1. I've observed the number range is allocated as per the sales area. for ex

For the doc.type Sales Area Number range

OR 1000 10 10 1565000004

OR 2000 10 10 2550000255

When i saw vov8 document type conrols for OR nothing was there in int number assignment as well as external number assignments too. Both the columns are blank. But i understood this is internal number range assignment. How this could be possible, can anyone explain

Hi devi,

If we have to maintain different number ranges for the different sales areas for the same sales document type, we need to do it through user exits. In user exits we feed the range number.

To check the user exits sit with your Abaper and ask him to help you to find it.

Number range type should be assigned to document type.whether it is internal or external.Pls check once.

in vov8 standared OR you might have copied from standard there is a internal number range that is why if you won' define also it will generate from internally.

standard OR internal number range willbe there.please go and check .

I understand there is no number range assigned to you document type in VOV8.

The system when does not find value from a particular feilds ..

Then it takes the default number range from the system..

find it for t-code : VN01

Hi dv ,

when we do not mantain number ranges for the sales order type then the system automatically generates a number for the document when it is saved depeending upon the number range which is available .

It is radam selection by the system
