Hi Praveen,
We add datafile only when the tablespace is filled.
purely it depends on space in hard disk.
Example:
if u have installed Oracle DB in 250 GB drive appx 120 -160 GB is occupied for oracle data file... Of that still u have 90 GB free... so when ever your tablespace if filled you can add data file.. this is done till u reach the maximum of 250 GB (hard disk space)
