Dear all,
I installed SAP ent 4.7 on oracle 9.0.6.0 in HPIA64.
please let me know how to tune the oracle database for best performance.
Regards,
satish
- upgrade to patch 9.2.0.8 + all interim patches (see note 938986 - Oracle Database 9.2: Patches for 9.2.0) - or better upgrade to Oracle 10.2 (+ patches + interim patches) because version 9.2 is running out of support in august 2008
- create database statistics if not done so

update statistics is one of the important for the performance tuning issue,
This depends upon how the optimizer mode is setted, u can check it ST04detail analysis menuparameter changes--active parameters
there u check the entry OPTOMIZER_MODE=CHOOSE/RULE
choose indicates the cost based optimizer and rule indicates the rule based optimizer,
Upto R/3 releases prior to 4.0 it is rule now it is choose
update statistics does not need to be generated for a rule based optimizer
This varies for different databases, The DBA planning calendar appears Analyze tab (oracle)
Update sta0(Infromix)
Update Statistics (for SQL Server)
View the logs regularly to check that the runs of the update statistics program was successfull.
With Regards
Bhaskar
