MMPI - Initialize Period for Material Master Records

Hi,

In our system,some one has done the period closing(MMPV) and now the period opens for 11 2008 and 12 2008.It doesnt allow me to post MIGO as it throws the error-'Posting not possible in this period'

While doing MMPI it gives a message - 'Follow the instructions in Note 487381 before initialization'.

Can anyone suggest me how to solve this?ie Initialize it?

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your valid replies. Actually the problem is with the fiscal year variant given for the periods.As per the business they have maintained in such a way that the Finance year cycle from August to July.

Hi,

Period closed once should not be reopened again for more than 1 backperiod.

Since it affects material closing and opening balance.

This will cause mismatch in MM and FI material values drastically.

There is a strong possibility that your material values cannot be matched with stock GL balance .

To initialize a period in an implementation we use OMSY transaction but this resets all the balances.

And initial period becomes the period which you will mention here.

Try not to initialize period but look for a workaround to adjust the postings.
