"I/O requests taking longer than 15 sec" on MSSQL

From some day we are esperimenting very very por performances on our

ECC6 on MSSQL 2005.

We try already to restart the Sap instance but but there is no any

benefit.

We see into the database error log these messages, pratically related

to all the files of the database:

"spids SQL Server has encountered 1 occurrence(s) of I/O requests

taking longer than 15 seconds to complete on file [X:\......]"

The X:\ drive is not a local disk, but it is an external volume on a

SAN storage.

No dumps are occurring on ST22, no DB errors are presents in SM21, just

the programmes are running very very very slowly.

In ST02 there are no particular displacing activity.

In Oss we do not find any Oss note for the "I/O requests taking longer

than 15 seconds...." message

Any advise ?.

Hi there,

In case your issue is not resolved yet:

Please ask your network team to check the SAN switch.

You can check again for number of swaps for buffers in ST02, also try to find out which program is eating up system resources using workload manager ST03N.

regards, Sean.
