We have installed XI 3.0SR1 on Netweaver 04 SR1 (webas 6.40) on AIX 5.3/Oracle. I have some doubts:
1. Where can i see which SP we are running like for example whether is it XI 3.0 SP11 ?
2. We could able to apply patches for ABAP based from SPAM asusual, how to apply Java Service Packs ?
3. Is there any specific patch levels to be there before releasing the system for users ?
4. We are planning to connect XI with ECC 5.0 server initially, what are the configuration steps to be done from BASIS
side as part of post-installation activities ?
Thanks

Use SAP J2EE Engine Deploy Tool for deploying SP

SP11 is stable, for users to use. But currently XI3.0 is on SP14 support pack.

hi,
Thanks for your reply. The first one is showing the following output:

which means are we in XI 3.0 SP 9 ? can we go for SP 14 directly and if so what are the files to be downloaded ?
2. For second one where can i see the SAP J2EE engine deployment tool ?

Hi Naveen,
As you saw from the log all related to Java and XItools are in SP9, what i mentioned was i applied the basis and abap patches from SPAM from 10 to 14, so in this scenario can i go for J2EE patches which can be done from saint from 9 which is what currently to 13 or do i need to go for 14 ?
Thanks
Hi Aravind,
I would recomend you to go for SP13, there are a ton of issues going around with Sp14, Sp13 finally is stable all the issues have been fixed.
Again its your call, Sp14 has some very good features that are not available in SP13. Also there are sap notes that you jhave to implement for fixing the bugs in Sp14.
cheers,
naveen
Hi
Recently we have upgraded from SP13 to SP14. And we have faced lot of issues since then. There seems to be a problem with JMS Adapter. After the upgrade all the JMS Adapter communication channel were disabled(Not a good scene for Production). We had to manually make some changes and activate it again. According to SAP it seems to be a problem with Dynamic Header in SP14(Don't know what is that)
Secondly there seems to be a problem with Cache Refresh on our case. Not all activated objects are reflected.
But as Naveen suggested it has some good features. So take your call.

Hi,
Thanks for both Naveen and Paresh on giving good suggestions. I will go with SP13 and once SP14 becomes stable will upgrade fo that. So finally for clarification, there will not be an issue having JavaRuntime and XI-Content with SP13 and Basis and ABAP packages (from SPAM) being at 14 is it ?
Thanks
You question really seems to revolve around how to get to a higher SP level. Listed below is the standard operation to follow. These are outlined in the SPxx Master guide
1) Apply Kernel SPS
2) Apply Basis SPS (SPAM)
3) Apply ABAP SPS (SPAM)
4) Apply J2EE SPS
5) Apply XI SPS
