Dear All,
During the Techincal Upgrade we did the following:
For Export:
51033208 BS2005 SR2 Installation Master AIX 64bit
However, SAPInst crashed immediately after execution. Result :Thus SAPInst GUI did not get displayed
We then downloaded 51033511_1 BS2005 SR3 Installation Master AIX 64bit
There was not much difference between SR2 and SR3 except SAPInst patch level in SR3 is higher and latest than in SR2.
Then we executed SAPInst of SR3. SAPInst GUI displayed correctly this time. However , SAPInst terminated with error saying that "db type has to be != ind".
SAP advised us to set the environment variable dbms_type=ORA in root.
After setting the environment variable dbms_type=ORA on root, restarted SAPInst and after about 30 minutes, SAPInst terminated and error message was "R3load has to be oracle database only". Then we set the environment variable of ORACLE_HOME; ORACLE_SID, SAPSYSTEMNAME in root.
Export database and Uninstall database has been completed.
For Import of database:
SAPinst of SR3 was getting hanged. Mail from SAP advised us to set unlimited for root, d11adm for the parameter data, stack, soft core, memory. It was set to unlimited. Also umask for root, d11adm and orad11 set to 022.
Still sapinst was getting hanged but this time in another phases.
Then we executed SAPInst of SR2 and was crashed immediately without displaying SAPinst GUI.
Again mail from SAP advised us to use the latest patch of JRE i.e SR10 instead of SR9.
Then deleted subfolders of /usr/sap and /sapmnt as per mail from SAP support.
Executed SAPInst of SR3 and it got hanged/stuck up.
Then we executed SAPInst of SR2 and it started working continously and we completed Import Successfully.
Question:
As we have used various versions of AIX e.g. SR2 and SR3 for Import and Export respectively, will it anyway impact or create inconsistencies in the Upgrade or Unicode Conversion activity?
Thanks,
Shalin Shah

No.
It "just" has a different software levels of the tools itself using a different CD/DVD set for installing. If you use it for export/import it doesn´t make a difference because it uses the tools (R3load et al) that are present in your instance executable directory.

Hi Markus,
I am also facing same error while creating a system copy (export). Its a 4.7 upgrade to ECC6 ( non-unicode). OS is Solaris 10.
I also set environment following env variable as root but still same error.
LD_LIBRARY_PATH
ORACLE_HOME
ORACLE_SID
SAPSYSTEMNAME
dbms_type=ORA
Please help!
Thanks
Rajesh
