3rd Party GIS Softwares for MAU

Former Member

Hi All,

We are doing an MAU Implementation and trying to Integrate with 3rd Party GIS Softwares.

With ArcPAD from ESRI, we are able to show SAP Assets (Like Equipment etc.) in the MAU Application on the GIS map.

We are now trying to evaluate SmallWorld and MapFrame softwares.

Does anybody has any idea that whether these GIS products can be integrated with MI Client and MAU Application? Can data be passed from MAU Application to these GIS Softwares and displayed on the map?

Any help on these two GIS Softwares will be helpful.

Hi Ankur,

Yes, Smallworld offline GIS product (called SmallField) can definetely be used.

They just have to build an implementation of MAM/MAU GIS interface (namely com.sap.mbs.mam.integration.gis.GisCommunicator).

When I built this functionality in MAM, to have a proof of concept I worked with ESRI developers to build this implementation. That is why you can use it with ArcPad right away.

Same has to be done with Smallfield. I actually spoke with them a few months back because my current customer was considering using this fucntionality and it seems that they are eager to build it to get even with competitors (ESRI), I think you should contact Smallworld office in your country.
