Oracle Restore Procedure

Dear SAP Friends

i'm wonder there is any tutorial for me to do a restore on my oracle. i'm backup my oracle with brbackup and already successfull. for information my sap is Netweaver in Linux and oracle, i'm backup my oracle on disk with "full online backup database".

before i run restore command in oracle, do i need to install the Central Instance Service and Oracle 1st, or i also need to install the Database Istance?

Install Central Instance Service first .

I think you should read the pdf document [Oracle Restore and Recovery|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/97a4f439-0d01-0010-d488-d29b45e2f5ab] before start the activity .

After install the central instance service what else do i need to install? is it oracle 1st and do the restore procedure? or install the database instance and then do the restore procedure?

You're making this more complicated than it actually is...

Basically to restore a DB you simply need a System with a running DB (same version and patch level as the one in the backup)...

In the case you want to do a refresh then restore on top of the current DB, in case of disaster recovery you need to build the system to the same specification of the previous system.

As easy as that.
