Hi Freinds,
Can anybody help me for system copy i.e. production to quality. Our database size is around 400GB so that client copy and client import/export takes huge time. I want to restore the backup of production server on quality server. Need to know the followings.
1. How to change SID
2. How to change the directory structure for quality (My production sid is PRD and quality sid is QAS)
Thanks in advance.
Rgds
Sanjay
Hi Sanjay,
You need not change SID anywhere.
All you need to do is delete the Oracle datafiles under Oracle / QAS..
Then Restore the Offline or Online backup of PRD. Just rename folder PRD to QAS.
Then generate Control file and OPS$ users.
Then start post copy activity.
To be precise delete the folders under Oracle / <SID>
Then when the restore happens it will more like PRD/.. folders
Move them under this Oracle / PRD and just rename PRD to QAS and go ahead with control file and OPS$ user creation and post copy work.
Regards
Vivek
