Hi,

As XI is not responsible for posting idocs. XI is just responsible for populating the idoc structure with the data. what is posting the actual data into the R/3 tables?

Its the configuration which is done by the functional consultant which is responsible to post the correct data for correct business partner.

suppose you are getting data from some business partner, then a partner number(in addition to other entities) will be created by functional consultant, once your IDOC reaches R/3 it will be posted based upon some unique key(for e.g.business partner number).

Thanx

Hi,

IDOC is an Intermediate document. IDOC is a structure to transfer the data..it is not storing any data..

Thanks,

IDOC is just a carrier of data,it does not holds data by itself.

once the IDOC is posted in R/3 the subsequent tables are updated with the data which was brought by IDOC.

As i mentioned it completely depends upon the inbound processing code and the code written in it

Hi amir,

u mean to say that ,idoc never holds data and the updated data doesn't recise in iodc, this goes and gets updated in standard tables of Sap?

is my understanding coorect.

and if LIFNR field is updated w,will the upadtion happen in all tables which consists of field LIFNR like (SAP DATABASE),LFA1,EKKO.or will it be upadted in particular table only.

Hey

IDOC just contains a image of data,if you delete the underlying database completely,IDOC won't have any data, its just a carrier for data.IDOC is not a storehouse for data.

Once the IDOC is delivered all the underlying tables are updated.you need to get in touch with the functional guys and he/she will tell you what all tables/fields are being updated from a specific IDOC.

Thanx

The processing code at the partner profile (we20) at receiver SAP system is responsible for actual data posting
