Former Member

Hi Experts,

1)Customer is using Business connector with R/3 46C .

2) Now R/3 4.6C will be Upgraded to ECC6

3) We need to first find out if the BC will work with ECC6 or not. If not we will need to give them the Approach for BC to XI Migration.

if XI has to be used what will happend to the interfaces running in BC ...is their any way that we can use that in XI and work....

or ...we need to do developmet from the scrach...

Thanks

Rupesh

Hello,

1. BC 4.6 will work with ECC 6.0

2. the mentioned Migration HowTo-Guide is of not much use because very superficial. For example it does not mention that most Java Services wont work anymore because they are using BC-internal classes (IData and so on)

If you decide to migrate at some time, consider to evaluate the sophisticated BC2XI tool at http://www.sisusoftware.com/

If you just switch to a newer SAP system, there is no need to migrate to XI.

But note that BC 4.6 goes out of support on 31.12.08, I suggest to upgrade to 4.8 at the end of the year (you can go from 4.6 to 4.8).

BC will support ECC. But still if u want to move to more strategic integration solution of SAP, i.e., SAP XI, then u have two ways:

1. Either use both BC and XI in the landscape: In this case, u ll have to use BC adapter of XI

2. Migrate entire development to XI: This will be a bigger task.

U ll have to convert all BC records into message types in XI

All flow/java services of BC needs to be converted into XSL/Java maps in XI

There is no reason for ECC 6.0 to work with BC 4.6 version.

If you want to migrate to XI then there is some tools available in the market, which will leaverage on existing BC development and will generate XI content.

you can use those.

You can refer to below guide on sdn.
