Hi,

you may observe the idocs like ORDERS.ORDERS05, here Orders is an message type and orders05 is an Idoc type.

Message type tells the data(it is orders or invoice,....) and IDoc type tells the which is that means S.O or P.O.

hi,

The messages exchanged between systems are of various message types. The message type depends on the data contained and the process involved. It determines the technical structure of the message, the IDoc type. For example, the FIDCMT message type is used for journal messages.

The IDoc type indicates the SAP format that is to be used to interpret the data of a business transaction.

An IDoc type consists of the following components:

· a control record

This is identical for each IDoc type.

· several data records

One data record consists of a fixed key part and a variable data part. The data part is interpreted using segments, which differ depending on the IDoc type selected.

· several status records

These are identical for each IDoc type and describe the statuses an IDoc has already passed through or the status an IDoc has attained.

hi

go through this

Message Type

Message type identifies the message being exchanged

Every IDoc type is assigned to a Message type

All IDoc carrying similar message ( similar IDoc type ) can be recognized by message type

Transaction WE81 is used to create message types Transaction WE82 is used to assign message types to IDoc types

Basic IDOC type defines the structure and format of the business document that is to be exchanged between two systems.

1. Create Idoc Type (WE30)

Go to transaction code WE30

Enter the Object Name, select Basic type and click Create icon

Select the create new option and enter a description for your basic IDOC type and press enter

Select the IDOC Name and click Create icon

The system prompts us to enter a segment type and its attributes

Choose the appropriate values and press Enter

The system transfers the name of the segment type to the IDOC editor.

Follow these steps to add more number of segments to Parent or as Parent-child relation

Save it and go back

Go to Edit -> Set release

2.Create Message Type (WE81)

Go to transaction code WE81

Change the details from Display mode to Change modenAfter selection, the system will give this message “The table is cross-client (see Help for further info)”. Press EnternClick New Entries to create new Message Type

Fill details

Save it and go back
