Hi,

>>Is it mandatory to create two business systems for sender and receiver side communincation channnels?why multiple business systems required?what is the role of business system in XI

No. It depends upon the requirement you have. if your source is some different business system and target is different in this case you need 2 different BS system for ur requirement. and then depending upon this u need communication channel for sender and as well as receiver. so thats ehy multiple business system is required.

I think you must be clear now why and what is the role of business system in xi.

HI

In file to file scenario one business system is ok to work with.

When sender and receiver applications differ then we go for two business systems.

In SLD we save products, software components and business systems for logical level, and technical systems for technical level. We can use SLD to determine which technical systems are installed on our landscape, which of these are assigned to a business system and which products and software components are installed in this system.

The System Catalog describes the systems in the data center from two perspectives: a logical view (business systems) and a physical view (technical systems). In other words, the Systems catalog describes the concrete implementation of the customer landscape.

Technical System: TS is a conceptual representation of a physical system, such as physical sap server with a number of software components installed.

Business System: BS is a conceptual representation of a logical system, such as a specific client on a SAP server or a 3rd party payroll application.

Technical systems are the basis for defining Business Systems. The association between the Technical System and Business System is dependent on the TS type; for instance, in a system based on Web AS (ABAP), each client in the system is a separate Business System.

To create a Technical System definition there is a wizard interface in the SLD.

For defining Business Systems, the four important pieces of data are:

•Business System Name (must be unique in the landscape)

•Associated Technical system name, and if the Business System will be used with IDoc interfaces, a Logical System Name

•The Software Products (and associated SWCV’s) that are used by the Business System. The products are brought through from the Technical System definition; but for a particular Technical System, not all products will necessarily be associated with a particular Business System.

•The Related Integration Server.

All of these settings can be defined in the Business System Wizard.

Hi Shiva,

Is it mandatory to create two business systems for sender and receiver side communincation channnels?

For File-to-File scenario, one business system is enough to work.

why multiple business systems required?when they required?

When the sender and receiver applications are different, then you should go for two different business systems as the technical system (IP address of machine) will differ.

It all depends on your landscape strategy.

If the system is in your landscape you can put as a business system

(Not a rule )

Otherwise you can create a business service. For that you dont have to logon to SLD,

can be created from Integration Directory itself.

Thanks

Hello Shiva,

Is it mandatory to create two business systems for sender and receiver side communincation channnels?why multiple business systems required?when they required?what is the role of business system in XI?

There is no need to create the two business systems one business system is enough.

You should create the two communication channels.

what is a Logical System? why we create it while creating of Business System?

In SAP terms, a logical system is a client in a database. Messages are exchanged between logical systems.

Logical system is created in the SLD. For e.g you are posting an Idoc.

what is a Business system? What is use of creating it?

Business System have an entry in the SLD and Buiness Service do not.

Business Systems are used when you are sending data to and from an R3 system and can be of ABAP, JAVA and Third Party Types.

Business System is a logical representation of a Technical System.

Business Service is a abstract representation of a System. For instance, www.google.com have a several system working together and IPs of this machines change eventually. When we use a Business Services like google we reference a computer that we don't know the phisical implementation.

Thanks,

Satya

Hi,

If you are using the same sytem(means sender and receiver are same) then no need to create the two business systems. One business system is enough. But we should create the two communication channels.

In the real time the sender and receiver systems are different then we should create the two business systems.

We created the Technical system, this technical system tells which system is processing in the work flow, but the business system tells the role of that technical system.

hi

there no mandatory to create 2 BS, with one you can do your scenario.

the reason why you define many BS is related with count of TS you define in SLD. whats that means? thant means that you going to define one Technical System for each new server system for example

AS400

BI

SAP/R3

Meta_4

CRM

Portal Enterprice (PE)

SharePoint.

Hope it clarify yord doubts.

Thanks

Hi,

in a file to file scenario one business system is enough. You can use just business service in this case though. You can assign sender and receiver file CC to the same system / service. It will work.

Multiple business systems? Because XI/PI is a middleware and it's purpose is to integrate systems. Of course, you could use just one system as mentioned, but it wouldn't be logically correct and impossible to maintain.
