RFC connection between ECC 6.0 IDES to EP 7.0

Former Member

Dear Expert,

I have installed ECC 6.0 IDES server For BEx web reporting, we have installed a seperate NW7.0 Java+EP system. Now, I have to configure the RFC connection between these two systems.

I need your help to configure RFC connection between IDES & EP to run WAD report,

and specially about the prerequisites before starting the configuration.

1) what are the steps I have to do

2) Since both of my systems are in same network, what is the best way to check prerequisites necessary for the config.

3) UME for our seperate Java instance. I have configured it to be the Java database and not not the ABAP system. Will this be a problem?

4) ICM parameters - which ones are necessary- HTTP,SMTP. Is HTTPS too?

Any other comments about this or advise would be appr

If give me some document with details steps it will help me a lot to configure the RFC

Thanks

DInesh

Dear Juan,

you provide me the link for configuration of RFC between portal and IDES server,

with help of that link I have configured RFC connection in portal J2EE with the help of visual administration. on portal side the status of the connection is showing runing.

see the configuration details at portal side as below:-

Entries for Step 1 - Create RFC Destination in J2EE Engine

SAP J2EE Visual Administrator

<SID> / Server<#> / Services / Jco RFC Provider / RFC Destination

Program ID: UBSIDES_IDE_00

Gateway host: ubsides

SAP Router string might be required for Gateway host

Gateway service: sapgw00 (3300; sapgw... is defined in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\services or /etc/services)

Number of processes (1..20): 20

Application server host: ubsides

SAP Router string might be required for Application server host

System number: 00

Client: 800

Language: EN

User: DINESH

Password: DDM1994

after above configuration I have check the connection in IDES using T-code SMGW

it show the connection details as below

0 ubsides sapgw00 ubsides sapgw00 DINESH Connected ubsides_ 83027812 Internal Communication Sat Apr 12 11:31:36 2008 0 0

But when I try to configure RFC connection on IDES server using sm59 it give me below error

ntries for Step 2 - Create RFC Destination for Portal

I Transaction Display and Maintenance of RFC Destinations (SM59)

reate

ame of RFC destination: SAPEP_EPD_01

onnection type: T (TCP/IP connection)

escription of RFC destination: SAP NetWeaver Portal on SAPEP

echnical settings

ctivation type: Registered Server Program

rogram ID: UBSIDES_IDE_00

ateway host: ubsides

ateway service: sapgw00

ogon/security

end SAP Logon Ticket active

hecks for Step 2 - Create RFC Destination for Portal

. Check existance of RFC destination

Check of RFC destination SAPEP_EPD_01 with RFC_READ_TCPIP_DESTINATION fails with sy-subrc= 2

I would like to request you to help me to resolve this issue

Hi Dinesh,

In EP 7.0 you have configuration templates available, you can use then to make your job easy.

http://<hostname>:<portno>/nwa

Use your administrator of EP to logon to the this link, browse through Configuration and choose the required template for your setup and configuration. Keep in mind that you can run this template only for one configuration. The various steps in RSPOR_SETUP are performed automatically by this template, you only need to make sure on your inputs are correctly entered in various steps.

Since you have already done certain configuration, I suggest you use new names during your setup this time.

You need to execute RSPOR_SETUP in order to connect BI with EP.

Read,

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/e8/e4044132bcef23e10000000a155106/content.htm

1) what are the steps I have to do

As above,

2) Since both of my systems are in same network, what is the best way to check prerequisites necessary for the config.

No extra checks necesary.

3) UME for our seperate Java instance. I have configured it to be the Java database and not not the ABAP system. Will this be a problem?

No.

4) ICM parameters - which ones are necessary- HTTP,SMTP. Is HTTPS too?

HTTPS are not necesary (it is if you want a secure connection tho)
