I was reading the book * Supply Chain Management with APO by Jorg Thomas Dickersbach. It say that there is a there is a additional BW-part of APO. Why there is an additional BW-part in APO and how it is used in the business process .
Thanks

Vinay,
Further to what RAJ has written.
The BW Setup in APO is used primarily in the Demand Planning Module which supports multiple Business Processes like Demand Planning, VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory), SMI ... etc. anything that requires data to be stored in TimeSeries Planning Areas and also backup into BW InfoCubes (now called InfoProviders) ... for you to help in Reporting.
You can Release Demand Data directly from an InfoCube to SNP. You can update the InfoCube from Sales History coming from R3 for the purpose of Forecasting.
In terms of KPIs reporting ... it is recommended that BW Reporting Activity is done on a Central Enterprise BW Systema and not the APO System. Use the APO BW for only SupplyChain Processes inside of APO (as above).
Hope this helps. Reward points if you do.
Regards,
Ambrish

Hi Vinay,
APO has a BW system inbuilt in it. But that BW system doesnot have all the capacity like an enterprise or independent BW system. The BW in APO is primarily for data extraction & storage and for creation of CVCs ( master data for DP).
