Oracle 10g - Upgrade from 10.1.0.1 to 10.2.0.2

Hi all I've got a dilemma here:

I'm planning a migration from PARISC to IA64.

My source system (PARISC) is ERP 6 on Oracle 10.2.0.2.

My target system (IA64) should be the same. of course.

But the install media I have for ERP 6 SR2 for IA64 only has Oracle 10.1.0.1.

If I install that and I understand correctly, I'll have to:

1) apply the 10.1.0.4 patch set and subsequent upgrade steps,

2) upgrade to 10.2.0.1

3) apply patch set 10.2.0.2

4) apply 10.2.0.2 interim patches

5) and subsequent upgrade steps (DBUA?)

Can I install the upgraded, patched 10.2.0.2 BEFORE I do the SAPINST ERP6 install?

Or, is there such thing as a "10.2.0.2" install media?

Thanks for your help.

-Bud

Hello Bud,

Yes you are on the right path.

1.Install ECC6 on IA64 as is with 10.1.0.1

2.Apply patches to the database to upgrade it to the same level as teh source.

3.Perform a backup of your source system and restore it in your target system

4.Adjust CTS and Interface directories if any.

5.done!

Hi Bud,

Recently I did an NW04s installation on an Oracle DB with Win NT as the OS. And I did follow the path that you have outlined, that ie,finishing the Oracle patching to 10.2.0.2 first and then continue with the installation of NW04s system.

Thanks n Regards,

Rohit
