R/3 forecasting Vs APO DP forecasting

Hi Gurus,

What is the difference between the forecast generated in R/3 and the forecast generated in DP?

If I pick Trend model, both the systems have trend model but when I forecast with relatively same kind of history, the MAD value in R/3 is about 120 while the one in APO is just 11.17. That's a huge difference. I checked the forecast profiles ad the parameters are also same.

I am just wondering what might be the difference???

Can somebody throw some light on this please?

Thanks.

Not sure why you are getting different results. To my knowledge the Holt-winters (HW) model work the same way in both R3 and APO. HW includes any model that uses alpha, beta and gamma. Make sure these values are consistent.

One of the big differences between how R3 and apo do forecasting is that the former uses infostructures, no lifecycle planning, rigid ways of agrgegation and disaggregations. while the latter can handle these situations seamlessly. macro calculations are also handled better in APO. obviously there are more forecasting models such as crostons model etc in APO.
