Starting a GP from VC in the same window

Hi everyone!

I'm starting a GP process from GP, using an GP URL, using a button with an hyperlink action, because I needed to avoid using HTML view.

It works great, but when I click the button, the GP process opens in a new window!

I need that the process runs on the same window.... is that possible?

Points available!

Thanks in advance!!

Marcelo

Hi Marcelo,

Here we meet again...

Unfortunately, if you use a hyperlink action of VC, it always opens a new window (it uses a window.open() method) so there's actually no way of opening it in the same window. I assume that if I asked you if this is something that would be good to have in future EhPs you'd say yes, correct?

Best regards,

Hi Netanel,

I think it would be nice to have this feature in the next EhP of VC. It's better to have the choice instead of workarounds or you have to tell the customers that it is not possible.

Best Regards,

Marcel

Hi Marcelo,

another way to start a GP is to write a webservice (with the GP API) and start the webservice from the VC.

Kiund regards

Hi Thomas,

thanks fow your answer.

Where do I must write the web service?

I mean, do I write it using a webdynpro in NWDS or GP implements by itself the web services?

Thanks again for your support.

Best regards.

Hi Natty, Govindu and Marcel

thanks for your quick answer.

Natty: you're absolutely right, I'd say yes without hesitation!

Where I can do that? Is there any place to make suggestion or ideas? (I have a lot to share!!)

Govindu: thanks for our answer

Marcel: as you said, I had to use a workaround to solve it: 2 layers, and an HTML view inside the 2nd layer. It isn't nice, but at least it works.

Thanks a lot to everyone, you all get point for your support.
