Hello dear all.
Maybe someone can remind me about the following.
During sales order creation, how is the shipping type determined?
What is its relation with the route, if there's any?
Thanks for the help.
RViegas
Dear RViegas,
when we define a Route, we can give a shipping type which is used to transport the goods to customer, on this transit duration depends so that you can give the lead time for this route (also consider other factors scheduling).

Hi Mr.RUI,
The system doesn't determine the shipping type automatically into sales order. you need to enter this manually if you want.

Hi Rui,
You get Shipping Type in the sales order as you enter the route.
You can assign shipping type in the Route definition (Txn -> OVTC).
Reward if this helps you .

Harsh

HI SD GURU'S
Dear RViegas,
shipping conditions is used to determine a shipping point and route.
without a shipping point in sales order, we can not deliver that sales order, so we have to determine shipping point in sales order. it will be done based on below:
Shipping Conditions (from CMR)
+ Loading Group (from MMR)
+ Delivering Plant (from CMIR or CMR or MMR or Sales order)
to get a route in the sales order (shipping conditions is one of the element to determine a route in sales order).
Departure Country/Zone (of delivering plant)
+ Destination Country/Zone (of ship-to party)
+ Shipping conditions (from CMR)
+ Transportation group (from MMR)
hope this will clarify,
bye
Rajam

Hi Srinath.
Thanks for calling.
How come while doing route determination you have to include the shipping type also?
At least the shipping condition, not the shipping type. Along with the transp. group, from A to B.
And the shipping condition is an input for route determination, coming either from the sales document type or the customer master data.
Now the shipping type, I have no clue how it is deducted.
Hi rui
Shipment type controls in shipment document and it therefore represents a particular type of shipment . There are many settings which in which one of the them is shipping type also
Transportation planning : indicated by route , incoterms , shipping type and forwarding agent
So as far as my understanding goes , shipping type is picked up from the transportation planning
Regards
Srinath
