/usr/sap/SID utilization

Hi Experts,

I just want to ask on how to troubleshoot if the utilization of /usr/sap/SID is full. What files need to be deleted so that the utilization decreases. Or any procedure that needs to be done in order to free-up space. Currently the utilization for /usr/sap/SID is 100%.

Hoping on your immediate response.

Regards,

To quickly clear space in work directory, logon to SAP and go to the desired application server (SM51) and then run SM50, go to Process menu -> Trace -> Reset -> All files

Hi,

Please schedule cleaning jobs like RSBTCDEL2 (Background jobs), RSNAPDEL(Core dumps), regularly clean the spooler. Also please delete old trace files from work directory.

Hi,

Also, please check if you have unwanted old kernels & are no longer needed.

Sometimes, there could be a core file consuming space.(/usr/sap/sid/DVEBMGSxx/work)

Check if it is not needed for analysis & a core directory can be created to prevent it from growing large.

And, if you are using a addon system , then you can delete some files from the J2EE folder too.

/usr/sap.../DVEBMGSXX/j2ee..cluster/serverx/logs.

You can delete the old log files from here keeping the latest ones.

Also, check if you have a core file over here under the path /usr/sap/sid/DV../j2ee/cluster/serverx/dumps.

Hope it helps.

You can check and cleanup unwanted files in "work" directory like .old etc. you can reset trace files (SM50->Process->trace). If you have j2ee, clean up log archive directory /usr/sap/SID/instance/j2ee/cluster/serverX/log/archive/. Also, check & remove core dumps.
