Dynamic Product Proposal with SD_DPP_EXCLUSION

I have searched far and wide and cannot find any information on how to use an Exclusion list when configuring the Dynamic product proposal.

Currently I have it working with the order history (SD_DPP_HISTORY) where access sequence is configured.

I do not understand how to use the SD_DPP_EXCLUSION option. Has anyone ever used this and if so can you provide an example or a link to the documentation?
