Hi team,
I have three doubts, Kindly provide me your assistance :
1.Recently i took backup through db13 t.code of my solution manager to an external hard disk connnected via USB to my server itself( whole online backup+redo log files). Can anyone guide me changes to be made in initsid.sap file (tape_address, ) how to take backup to a remote HDD connected to other PC which is in network to my server.
2.Iam planning for a restore and recovery also. Can we recover the data using db13 t.code.If so kindly let me know the steps. if not please provide steps with help fo br tools.( recovering data from an external hard disk to SAP Server ). thanks in advance.
3.After the online backup, i have checked the log file. it shows me :
BR0056I End of database backup: bdxwskpq.and 2008-05-10 11.20.43
BR0280I BRBACKUP time stamp: 2008-05-10 11.20.44
BR0052I BRBACKUP completed successfully
BR0280I BRBACKUP time stamp: 2008-05-10 11.20.44
BR0291I BRARCHIVE will be started with options '-U -jid ALLOG20080510103620 -d disk -c force -p initksm.sap -cds'
BR0280I BRBACKUP time stamp: 2008-05-10 11.20.46
BR0292I Execution of BRARCHIVE finished with return code 3.
Did my BRARCHIVE completed suxcessfully or not. If not what measures to be taken.
Thanks in advance.

I dont think backup will work with USB drive. But anyway, check the following link.

Hi,
Recover not possible to db13 .Use brrestore for recovery.
For Brbackup return code 3 - check permission
See note 400241

Hi chiranjieev,
You can restore the Br backup using br restore, while restoring it will prefer online+redo log backup,
You can restore it thru SAPDBA,Br-restore. No need for changing the parameters in the initsid.sap.
I don't know regarding the remote backup............!!!!!!!!!

Nizam
