SAP NetWeaver 7.1 always with Application Server, Java EE 5 Edition?

Hi,

with the release of NetWeaver CE 7.1 and the upcoming release op PI 7.1 is it safe to say that all Usage Types AS Java based upon NetWeaver 7.1 are shipped with the new Application Server, Java EE 5 Edition?

Thus calling this edition the AS Java 7.1?

Or could there be cased where the 7.0 version is shipped?

Hi Marcel,

short answer: yes.

SAP NetWeaver CE 7.1 and SAP NetWeaver PI 7.1 are based on AS Java 7.1 and on SAP JVM 5.1, so always Java EE 5. A place to see these information is the Product Availability Matrix (PAM) on service marketplace: http://service.sap.com/pam (requires login). Select SAP NetWeaver PI 7.1 to see details and use area "JSE Plaforms".

Hi,

In regard to the 7.0 part of your question. SAP NetWeaver 7.0 is not shipped with Java EE 5 and it is not planned that this will change. All SAP NetWeaver 7.1 releases will be delivered with Java EE 5 support (CE, PI, Mobile, etc).
