Hello Experts,
we run Netweaver 2004s on MaxDB. Is it possible that the system perfomance
during the database backup is strongly diminished? Should the backup of the
database be done during times when no users work with the system?
Thanks.
Regards, Lars.
Hi Lars,
yes - it is definitively possible, although it is rather uncommon.
The reason for such a problem is very often a I/O problem or a problem with paging on OS-level caused by the OS-I/O cache.
If you encounter such an issue you should definitively start a I/O performance analysis - it's quite likely that also the usual I/O is not as good as it should.
As a SAP customer you should start by making sure that the DB Analyzer is running and open a Support message.
