Reading files CCSID 500 after Conversion to ASCII

Hello

We have done a Conversion EBCDIC --> ASCII on a SAP R/3 4.6D , kernel 4.6D_EXT, on iseries, using method INPLACE

As far I Know, logfiles of Batch Inputs and Jobs are located on IFS.

After conversion to ASCII , SAP R/3 cannot read those files (using SM35 or SM37) because CCSID of those files remains 500.

They shoud have CCSID = 819.

So procedure Conversion only manage the Database... I think is necessary to do something related to those files of IFS.

Any suggestion?

Thanks and regards

Javier

Hallo Javier,

The code page conversion does not directly convert any data in IFS. If the files contain text data and are opened as text files, then the ASCII system should still be able to read them. It will respond to the CCSID 500 with the expectation that the file content is EBCDIC and display it accordingly. Are you actually experiencing a problem with the display in SM35/SM37? If so, you should ask SAP to investigate.
