is defining Pricing By Item Category necessary?

is it necessary to define Pricing By Item Category when configuring the whole pricing procedure for a sales order ?

We have some similar requirement,

client wants to have a sepreate order type where in he enters sold to party and material as a service rendered material for which they will need to bill the price.

Please guide me how to go with it. what necessary changes to be made .

In the item category vov7 if you mark as pricing then system automatically calculating pricing. Then no need to configure pricing for item categories.

Forget to mention that if any material for which you want to have pricing condition to flow into your sale order / billing, then for that item cagegory, you should have selected as stated above.

Yes it is absolutely necessary to have *"X"* for your item category in IMG Path -- SD --> Basic Functions --> Pricing --> Pricing Control --> Define Pricing by Item Category.
