Dear Gurus,

What is the landscape we follow. In which one do you prefer to test functional module level changes.

Thanks

Hi Raj,

Please find below some more information on System Landscape:

The servers are always maintained at the client's place. The following are the different servers in landscape.,

1. Sandbox

2. Development server

3. Quality Assurance Server

4. Production Server

2,3 and 4 are maintained in every lanscape.

In addition to the above, the landscape also includes somecases,

1. Training client

2. Sandbox

3. Preproduction server etc.,

System Land Scape is nothing but while implementing SAP, normally a setup will be maintained so that the implementation process will go from scratch to golive.

Normally it consisits of

1. Develpment server (which will be further devided into Sand Box and Golden client)

2. Quality Server (Which is used to test the scenarios)

3. Production Server (which is used in realtime)

All the development, configs will be done in develpment server.

Golden client is nothing but in this server there will not be any master data, only to generate transport request numbers while doing cofig. can be used.

This requests are moved into Quality or Test Server, so that, users will test the scenarios and give their feedback. Once every thing is perfect as per the client requirements then all these will be moved to Production.

Production is real time system, where users use in their reguler business.

All the transports are moved by Basis consultants on the proper approvals from business.

All these servers are maintained at client place, and the users and consultans will access these systems through a saparate VPN (private networks) using user speicic login ids

Please Reward If Really Helpful,

Thanks and Regards,

Hello,

The landscape of the systems differ depend upon the applications ans size of he project.

The landscape will be like :

DEV --> TEST (QA) --> PRD

DEV :

In development system there can hae two clients. One will not generate change request and the other will create a change request when you change any programme/ config. At first you change the config in the first client (will not generate change request) and test it there, then you do the chanes in the second client fo the DEV system and generate a change reuest, then move it to test system.

TEST

Can have multiple clients, normally will not have authoriation for everybody to change the config. The config to be changeed has to be moved from development to test through change request.

PRD

Normally single client. The changes need to be moved from TEST system to this after high end testing. The day to day transactions of the companies will be performed in this system by the users.

As I said in the beginning, the landscape may be different depend upon the project.

That being the case. I am now wondering... When using Solman how do you support the intergrity of objects in the IMG when you are doing a new project using the Global template type project how do you setup the landscape to support multiple go-lives. I would think there are multiple senarios that could be used but was wondering what is the most common.

landscape generally maintained-

DEV

- Config client - all config changes done here & trasnported to test client

- test client - used to test the config once its clear will be transported to QAS

QAS -

test client - will perform the testing again with actual data

once this test is cleared - will be transported to PRD for live transactions.

PRD

one client mostly - have live transaction data

it depends on how the config change/request has to transport.

they can either transport eith from DEV to PRD

or QAS to PRD
