Is it possible to revert the applied patch?if yes how can we do that?
hi harish,
SPAU you can revert back but we need to be carefull with SPDD phase.
programs using version management we can activate older versions
While applying the support patches technical & functional consultants must be available. As basis consultant we don't no what objects they want.Depends on there requirement we need to select spau\spdd phase.
It is not possible to keep old version of the objects nad new version.
Why we are going to apply patches means changing the old object versions to
new objects.
If you select no need to modify repository objects means it will keep old version only.If you want new version means you need to apply the patches. As a basis guy you need to ask your developers.
While applying the patches if you select modify repository and directory objects means SAP keeps only the new version in the database.
I hope it will help you.

technically possible but it is not recommended by SAP
since applying support package meaning some changes will be done to the table..
best effort to revert is restoring previous backup..
it is recommended to take backup before applying SP

Hi,
I guess that you mean by a Patch : support pack.
When you apply a support pack several object will be modfied : repository objects , dictionary objects
When a single program is modfied , to revert back the modification it quite simple but when hundreds and may be thousend programs were modified is not an easy tastk. It's possible technically but fastidious and not recomended by SAP.
When a dictionary object is modified (adding a column to a table) reverting the change may lead to a lost of data.
Conclsion : it's not possible to revert an applied patch. It's not possible technically. and not recommened by SAP.
The only solution is to restore your system.
Thanks,
Maniss.
