I hope you will get to know what is MDM and Purpose of MDM
by going through above threads.
tell me here we have do coding or navigation
Within the MDM , coding is less but when we use java api or
ABAP api to integrate the MDM to other SAP and Non-SAP
Systems , we need to go for coding.
Hope it helps
Thanks
Narendra

Hi manisha ,
MDM is one major Netweaver component other than EP,PI,BI....etc.
SAP NetWeaver MDM is one solution for ALL master data in your industry-specific
business processes
Master Data is Crucial to Your Business
But every department has a different version of it
Without Master Data Management
Doing business is expensive
For major IT GIANTS like GE, ERICSSION, WHIRLPOOL....etc MDM helps them a lot.
Now it becomes necessary for companies to maintain master data .
Hence , shifting to MDM definitly enhances your career oppurtinities.

Hi Manisha,
Hi raghu,
What is MDM?
MDM is an SAP developed tool to manage master data.It is a configuartion driven tool developed on C++
It is used to perform various useful functionalities on master data like
Data Cleansing
Data Standardization
Data Harmonization
Data Quality check
Data consistency and completeness check
Most of the It landscape are very widespread so also there master data .As a result there is no single version of the truth of the master data.
To address these and many more problems one faces with master data SAP has developed this tool.
Being an ABAPer will MDM be useful for me?
To be precise ABAP knowledge is not a prerequisite to learn MDM however if you have some knowledge of the functional side in SAP R/3 it will help.
As an ABAPer if you understand the table structure in R/3 the hierarchy in which data are store etc it will help in MDM data modelling as Data modelling is the initial and most important step when working with MDM.
Besides your ABAP knowledge will help when you are integrating with differnt system especially SAP and BI system .ABAP can be used to write different codes and call several functional Modules which are used to to convert data formats and in RFC connections to enable file taransfers.
But I strongly feel that you do not need any such specific kind of training to attend to learn MDM as MDM is a Configuration driven tool and if you go through the different books available online on SAP help and even SDN then it is sufficient to start with the basic concept sin MDM.
The bible for MDM is MDM reference Guides
There are four ref guides
Console
Data Manager
Import Manager
Syndicator
These guides are sufficient to learn within the MDM box for a beginner.
Kindly reward points if found useful
Thanks
Simona

MDM is very hot in the market right now and as it is getting better and better with newer versions, MDM is reaching a steadier state. A very stable version is expected to come out in Oct this year.
Now Please go through the link below:
This link will give you information on the following things:
1. Is is good to choose MDM as career? How is the market of SAP MDM? What will be the job oportunity?
2. Coding is requird 4 MDM?
3. Learning MDM for a Functional Consultant
I think the first two questions are your concerns and you can go through this link for better understanding.
There is not much of Navigation required in MDM as we generally integrate MDM with source sytems and MDM has 4 components which have specific tasks.
1. Console - For repository Design and setting all properties.
2. Import Manager - For importing the data into MDM
3. Data Manager - For Managing, enriching and Cleaning the
data.
4. Syndicator - For harmonizing the data back to the target systems.
Please go through the link to understand these components better:
