We hear about other products, but these don't seem to have any public availability (at least which one could see).

It is completely feasible to automate the migration of BC records, flows, flow elements, graphical maps, 100+ of the BC built-in functions, output templates, etc. it is just very, very complex

U cannot upgrade from BC to XI....Only the thing u can do is either try to replicate the developments of BC in XI

OR

Use migration tools avaialble.

My company LnT Infotech has a tool EXODUS that Migrates the existing BC components to XI.

with least manual intervention.
