Need brief explanation.
I know if you do a database copy from Production to test this will overwrite all data in test. THis includes support packs - transports and all data.
What happens to my STMS buffer for Test will it get overwritten
If I do a client copy scc9 or ssc8/scc7 with sap_all from Production to Test.
Will this also overwrite transports in Test and support packs in Test also.
Why does not get overwritten with the 2 copies.
Datatabse and client copy.
Thanks
Joe
Hi Joe,
you are correct, that a client copy works different here ...
BUT:
It is not supported to copy PRD with a lower SP level to DEV or TST with a higher level, because you cannot garantuee, that the target is consistent in terms of customizing. For your won transports:
Workbench transports stay in and customizing transports will be overwritten => You would have to re-import all your customizing transports, that were not imported in PRD before the copy.
=> If the level is different, you are in bad luck and should clean this up ....
I had this once and created temporary a further system and installed there the Support Packs new ;-(

I forgot to release one transport (SE16) in our Production system before I ran the backup.
Will this cause problems with SE06 when I re-initialiaze Test after the database restore.
Thanks

As always you're the greatest.
DOes it make any difference whether I restore the Test system from the Savsys tape of the Production system or
from the Savlib command that I run every morning
Savlib lib(r3p01data) dev(tap01) endopt(leave) clear(all) savact(synclib) savactwait(900) accpth(yes) dtacpr(yes) output(*print)
Thanks very much
Joe
Hello Joe,
Basically the import queues are kept under file system /usr/sap/trans/buffer, which is not included in DB refresh or client transport.
Best regards,
Victor
