Which Idoc to be used & in Which Situation we have to use

HI Suman,

MATMAS:

Material Master IDOC it is used for material master extraction.

For Eg: Any material records that have been created or changed or deleted that have occurred to the material master records . This program should generate IDocs containing material data.

ARTMAS:

AIDMATMAS and ARTMAS (Customizing for Logistics - General ® Supply Chain Planning Interfaces (SCPI) ® Auto-ID Backend Integration ® IDoc Processing ® Material Master Data IDocs ® Activate Change Pointers For Message Types.

Processing Acknowledgment Messages

An acknowledgment message informs the sender of an asynchronous message about the result of the processing of the message within SAP Exchange Infrastructure. The reported result is referred to as an asynchronous acknowledgment.

Request Messages

Within the request message you must define whether an acknowledgment message is required, and if so, what kind of acknowledgment message. The acknowledgment message can refer to two events:

● The arrival of the request message at the final receiver

● The execution of the application in the receiver system

For this purpose, the request message contains an acknowledgment tag, which specifies the event for which an acknowledgment is expected. This tag must be specified by the sender (or a sender adapter that supports acknowledgment messages).

Message processing in SAP Exchange Infrastructure ensures that the acknowledgment message follows the same route from the receiver to the sender as the request message did from the sender to the receiver. For this purpose, the request message contains a hop list that logs the route of the request message. This information is provided by all Integration Engines and Integration Servers that are involved in the processing of the request message.

Hi Suman,

One Idoc type can be linked to more than one message types.

Message type is used as a qualifier to process the data in IDoc function modules / posting programs / application programs.

Every message type addresses a business function which can be understood only at runtime. Apart from the data being filled at runtime, one can understand its purpose through transaction code: WE81.

With the message type, there is another qualifier to decide the data that needs to be picked, that is IDoc type. Use the transaction WE60 and click the first icon on the tool bar provided to see its documentation.

Then you can understood whether it is suitable to your needs.

IDoc Types and Message Types are classified on the following:

Master Data

Logistics Business Processes

Accounting Business Processes

HR Business Processes

So

MATMAS is used for posting or receiving Material master Data

ARTMAS is used for posting or receiving Article master Data

WP_PLU – Articles

This IDoc is the prime source of Infinity Item information. Columns such as Barcode, article, Description, Price, Tax etc. are contained within the segments of this IDoc.

This IDoc also contains Item dependant specials pricing and advance price revision details.

Pricing, tax and the item itself are all deemed to be ‘branch specific’. What this means is that pricing can be made to vary between store to store. It also means that some stores can stock/sell an item and another may not. It also allows for tax being apportioned against some store but not others eg airport duty free stores.

What is the difference between Article master & Material Master??

Is these two are not same??
