Installation procedure NW 7.0

Hi Friends,

My intention is to set up a BI system and after all I have finished the 'Solution manager' installation.

The next chalange is to install the net weather.

For this reason I have created the installion key in SMSY.

So now I have the key and a lot of DVD's here, but I have no Idea how to prceed.

I have only 1 DVD with a sapinst.exe, the 'SAP business suite 2005'.

Do I have to start the installation from the solution manager?

Or do I have allready enough with the Solution manager installation?

Probably no.

Any input would be appreciated.

Hi. Dear jimbob. The next step is download the inst guid for your release NW. Go to

http://service.sap.com/instguidesnw choose your version like SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (2004s) --> Installation -->

--> Below, under Installation - SAP NetWeaver Systems --> choose the your version (for example)

SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SR2 - Installation Guides -->

And after specify the DB OS and Java,ABAP or ABAP+JAVA versions. Download and read. This document contains all required information to you. Regards.

I have seen it before, but it is talking about different things.

It tells me to insert the master DVD and I do it.

But the screen is entirely different.

The DVD I have, has 5 Points.

CRM, ERP, SCM,SRM and this is what I,m interested 'Netweaver 7.0 SR3'.

And the 'Netweaver 7.0 SR3' has again many points but none of them is suitable from my point of view.

If you know the content, can you advice what to install?

I'm absolutly confused.

I'm dont remember all content What do you need to install? It's know only you... For example :

"Central System Installation:

Installs a complete SAP system including the following

instances on one host:

l Central services instance (SCS)

l Database instance

l Central instance " .

Yes Sergo, you are right, but only for CRM, ERP, SCM and SRM but not for Netweaver.

But mayby for netweaver everything is installed accept some additional components and I only don't know it.

So I will give it a try.

I'm dont uderstand you. You try to install netweaver in same host where you install the Solution Manager ? Can you say that you see under Netweaver in Master DVD ? Are you read the first of all the "Master Guide" of Netweaver , and know all scenarios ? Regards.

Yes I try to install Netweaver on the same Host.

Further, under netweaver I see the following points.

Standalone engine

Optional Standelone units

Software life cycle options.

Actually I read the Mater Guide but it helps me not a lot.

As you can see in Master Guide :

For usage type BI, there is no installation option in SAPinst. Instead, you have to install AS ABAP

with SAPinst and then SAP NetWeaver 7.0 BI Content Add-On 2 or higher. If you have succesfully installed Solution Manager, it's means you have AS ABAP You only need to install BI Content Add-On 2 or higher. Can you chek now in system --> status --> press on magnifier --> What system components are you see ? Regards.

I was just wondering about the AS ABAP option.

Now I only have to find out how to install the bi content.

As i can see you not need to know "how to install the bi content" becose your installation contains this component:

BI_CONT Business Intelligence Content

Also as you can see: SAP_BW SAP NetWeaver BI 7.0 are in here : ) I'm not BW specialist , but as i know you need to go --> RSA1 t-code. About next configuration ask in BI forum Regards.

what you think Sergo, is it possible to upgrade to 64 bit?

I have to search the forum anyway but may be you know that allready.

If not I could reinstall everything if neccessary.

That you so does not arrange ? Or you need to install directly SR3 version? You do not have other server from new installation? Becose you need the Solution Manager for generation key (for installation NW 7.0). I'm end to write in this thread, If there will be a question , create new thread.
