Special characters into IDOC adapter not translated

Hi,

We have a scenario JMS-XI-IDOC(non unicode) in which the special characters are not translated.

Input from the JMS adapter is codepage 00819 which is nicely translated by XI to UTF-8. this means two positions for each special character like U umlaut. This is ok. Only when this data is mapped to an IDOC in SAP this unicode character presentation is not translated anymore to the single position correct character leaving rubbish in the IDOC fields that contain these special characters.

I think XI should take care of this translation. How can it be done?
