ABAP AS changes

Hi all,

I am planning to change the hardware of my Central Instance.

To do so I am reinstalling SAP (4.7) and SQL on the new server (with a new hostname) and the day of the GoLive I just basically detach my database and reattach it on the new server.

Everything have been test and work perfectly.

However I have two Application Servers connected to my CI and I was wondering what changes do I have to make on this two servers for them to connect to the new message server (the IP address and the hostname of the CI have been changed).

Tks for the help.

You need to make changes in the profiles also.

Hi,

Make sure that you replace the hostname, IP of CI in all the APServers's Instance profile.

So you are saying that I have to change something in my Application Server instance profile and that is all (basically I just need to change parameter SAPGLOBALHOST by entering the new hostname of the CI).

I have some doubt about that:

The AS profile are stored on the CI. When I start my Application server how he will know that he has to connect to the new CI message server and use the profile that are on this server.

Do I have to change environment variables?

Perhaps it will be easier to reinstall the AS?

Thanks for the help.

By the way: my OS is windows 2003

Looking around on the server I think we need to:

1) change the instance profile of the Application Server (mostly the parameter SAPGLOBALHOST)

2) change the environment variables of the users <sid>adm and SAPService<SID>

3) recreate the service SAP<SID>_<NR> on each application server

If I forgot something do not hesitate to tell me.

Thanks again all.

You also need to change the profile names an rename to the new hostname

<SID>_<Instance>_<old-hostname> to <SID>_<Instance>_<new-hostname>

Yes, you need to change in the Services also.

If you dont want to go thru these hassles, you can reinstall it, it shouldn't take too long.

I will do that for the Central Instance but for the AS I do not change the hostname (neither the IP Address).

Thanks for the help.
