File to Idoc scenario...

A file is received into XI...then should trigger a workflow which in the receiver system to receive the approval.Approver can approve it in a day or two.After it gets response from the approver,details should be loaded into SAP ECC..Plz note Approver and the receiver system is the same.I.e SAP ECC system...

how to go ahead with this....

U have option of using event based message processing. U may use BPM. BPM for current XI scenario is not much capable of handling processes where user inputs are required as in ur case. However in PI 7.1, the capabilities of BPM is enhanced to achieve this.

Other option in current scenario would be used of CAF (Composite Application Framework) It will handle all ur requirements much easily
