DBIF_RSQL_SQL_ERROR - Production system stopped!

Hi All

I need some help with a problem we had last night with our ECC6 System, which basically had some serious memory issues and consequently stopped users logging on, batch jobs failed etc. In total we had 439 short dumps in the space of two hours.

Here is some system info which might help:

Platform

Windows 2003 Enterprise (32-Bit)

SQL 2000 Enterprise (32-Bit)

16GB RAM

ECC6 - Stack 10

Short Dump

Runtime Errors DBIF_RSQL_SQL_ERROR

Exception CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB

Date and Time 01.05.2008 04:30:49

How to correct the error

Database error text........: "[8645] A time out occurred while waiting for

memory resources to execute the query. Rerun the query."

Internal call code.........: "[RSQL/OPEN/TBTCS ]"

Please check the entries in the system log (Transaction SM21).

If the error occures in a non-modified SAP program, you may be able to

find an interim solution in an SAP Note.

If you have access to SAP Notes, carry out a search with the following

keywords:

"DBIF_RSQL_SQL_ERROR" "CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB"

"SAPMSSY2" or "SAPMSSY2"

"SELECT_TIME_TRIGGERED_JOBS"

If you cannot solve the problem yourself and want to send an error

notification to SAP, include the following information:

1. The description of the current problem (short dump)

To save the description, choose "System->List->Save->Local File

(Unconverted)".

2. Corresponding system log

Display the system log by calling transaction SM21.

Restrict the time interval to 10 minutes before and five minutes

after the short dump. Then choose "System->List->Save->Local File

(Unconverted)".

3. If the problem occurs in a problem of your own or a modified SAP

program: The source code of the program

In the editor, choose "Utilities->More

Utilities->Upload/Download->Download".

4. Details about the conditions under which the error occurred or which

actions and input led to the error.

The exception must either be prevented, caught within proedure

"SELECT_TIME_TRIGGERED_JOBS" "(FORM)", or its possible occurrence must be

declared in the

RAISING clause of the procedure.

To prevent the exception, note the following:

Information on where terminated

Termination occurred in the ABAP program "SAPMSSY2" - in

"SELECT_TIME_TRIGGERED_JOBS".

The main program was "SAPMSSY2 ".

In the source code you have the termination point in line 527

of the (Include) program "SAPMSSY2".

The program "SAPMSSY2" was started as a background job.

The termination is caused because exception "CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB" occurred in

procedure "SELECT_TIME_TRIGGERED_JOBS" "(FORM)", but it was neither handled

locally nor declared

in the RAISING clause of its signature.

The procedure is in program "SAPMSSY2 "; its source code begins in line

511 of the (Include program "SAPMSSY2 ".

Event Logs and SQL Logs

Nothing - relating to the memory issue only short dump info.

Hello Phil,

What does the SAP system log say ?

I do not recollect if SQL 2000 has any log file like the alertSID.log in Oracle, if yes, please post it.

SQL Log file says nothing - only the fact the the server was restarted (which we did manually!)

Hello Phil,

I think the following SAP Note 206694 - SQL 7.0 Error 8645 {Insufficient Memory Resources}

gives you enough cues to fine tune your system.

Phil,

Please go thru that note irrespective of its release, cause it is a descriptive note and gives you what is causing this error and how can you fix it.
