HI,ALL,

Acually i asked how to difine data carrier and related stuff. i got solution also. for this i would be thank u.

But the real difficulty i m facing now.

I am attached doc's say *.doc or *.pdf etc file formats to my main document and saved.

when i am displaying or going for edit original, The system gives this messge "NETWORK ADDRESS DEFAULT OF YOUR COMPUTER IS NOT MAINTAINED"

PROCEDURE Say's,

In the IMG-DM you need to make an entry with the network address "default" and assigne this entry to a data carrier type. YP.Zuorden.

All frontend computer which do not have the system variable "hostname" are then assigned to this data carrier type.

I am fully confusioned now. because i m working in development server.

Hi,

In DC20 under Identify front end computers - define entry as DEFAULT-PC-DEFAULT-PC with no hostname in 4 columns that will help.

Hi

You need to defind the Data carrier SPROCross-Application ComponentsDocument managementGeneral dataDefinned data Carrier "Server, Front end"

Help text

Define data carrier type Server, frontend computer

You define the data carrier types that are to be used for processing the original application files in this work step:

Computers that are available online

Servers

Frontend computers

Storage locations thaht are not available online, for example:

Cupboard

Disc

The sytsem requires these data carrier types if:

Original application files are to processed and these files are on a server or a frontend computer

The work station application for processing the original application files is installed on a server or another frontend computer

Activities

1. Data carrier type

Enter the key for the data carrier type.

Describe the data carrier type (language independent).

2. Default path

This entry is only necessary for frontend computers.

Enter the path where copies of the original application files that have already been stored in an SAP database, archive or vault ae to be displayed.

3. CAD System

If you are dealing with a computer with a specific CAD system as data carrier, enter the CAD system. This entry is only for documentation purposes.

4. Online indicator

If the data carrier is available online, set the online indicator. This is NOT the case, for example, if the data carrier is a cupboard or a dsic.

Example

You define the data carrier type for frontend computers with the operating system WINDOWS NT, where the original application files are processed.

1. Enter a key for the data carrier type "Frontend computer", and a descriptive short text:

PC (PC with operating system Windows NT)

2. Enter the path for the frontend computers of data carrier type PC that the original application files (that have already been moved to a secure storage area) are to be displayed on.

c: emp

The system copies the original application file and stores it under this path.

3. Since this data carrier is available online, set the online indicator.

4. Since no CAD system is installed on the frontend computer, you do not need to enter a CAD system.
