ESR, CE 7.1, and SLD

What is a normal ESR CR and SLD landscape?

I am planning to install ESR on PI and use PI SLD as a central location of component for all system.

I am going to install CE on laptops and point to the SLD and ESR on PI for model information.

Is this ok or do I need to install a CE central server with SLD?
