Audit Trail sm19 and sm20

Dear all,

Please guide me what happens if we activate the audit trail,i.e what will be the system performance.

wat are the advantages and disadvantages by activating the audit trail.

we are planning to activate audit trail.

Security audit log should not have a bad impact on system performance..

The audit logs are local logs maintained on each application server. The system maintains its audit logs on a daily basis and you have to archive or delete the log files manually. This way, you can refer to logs from previous days and the time frame for available logs is increased.

There should not be any performance issues. The only possible issue is disk space for the audit logs - I have had over 2 years of data without any issues.

There is NO disadvantage..Please activate the Audit trail. I guess the maximum is for 3 months on my system

There can be a performance impact if you have a poorly sized system which is definitely a disadvantage.

I think usage of badly written programs or queries on huge tables will have a noticable performance impact longgggggggg before any security audit log, SNC,...
