Using XI to pass the information from Sap Portal Front end and SAP CATS

Hi ,

I have to establish communication between SAP Portal and SAP CATS

SAP e-time registration Front End on the SAP portal. Back End = SAP CATS, HR - ESS/MSS, HR Time evaluation, PS, FI/CO

can some one explain how to go about this scenario ....

Both are SAP based system so

i tried creating logical system for sender and receiver

and

i have used XI Adapter for communication of information it does not seem to wrok , is my approch right

pls let me know
