customer - contact person TAB vs. partner function - difference?

Hi,

can anyone tell me the difference between

contact person maintained in "contact person tab" in XD02

and contact person (CP) partner function ?

when do we use which of those ?

Hi Michal,

The 'Contact Person' tab in the customer master is used to maintain the list of contact persons for that customer.

The partner function 'Contact Person' is used in Sales documents to record the relevant one or two contact person for that Sales document. This partner function is required because there is no contact person tab in the sales order.
