Hi,
Could anybody please tell how to maitain system data for an MDM system and the procedure to open MDM system access to SAP thru WTS? I tried to create system data for MDM system but I dont know what value to provide for SID as MDM system does not have three digit SID just like regular SAP systems.
Any response is greatly appreciated.
thanks
Chandu...
Okay one more read of ur Issue hints that u r more concerned with opening ur MDM box for some SAP support connection,'
U can do this:
1. update ur ticket asking SAP to open a webEX session and either of you two parties can be the leader and run the show.
2. If you insist on WTS way, then install the normal MDM GUI clients on the Terminal server and let SAP login into it and access your MDM box.
points to note:
it really depends on your landscape: how many ports u want to expose to outside world via WTS just for this session. etc etc. and also on your MDM installation environment...like DB & App server & clients on 3 different servers...then u end up hooking up WTS to all these three with access granted to SAP for all the logs on these various nodes.
My suggestion, go for webEX....... u run the show, pick up that phone and show them all the logs they want at your comfort.!

two things:
1.
if you are talking about some SAP support connection to MDM through the normal WTS ( Windows terminal services) route then its not gonna happen anytime soon. you may share the system name , repository name, login password etc. on your OSS ticket and the exact information format is attached in many OSS notes ( I can send the link if that is what u want)
2.
If you are trying to maintain MDM box info in the SAP GUI launch pad, you probably might know already thats not the way MDM is accessed ( its thru stand alone clients to start with and web after many integrations into ur existing landscape). And naming conventions and stuff, you need to worry about it only through XI SLD, that where you try to teach other boxes what ur MDM system name is! . Hope this helps!.

Hi Chandu,
we cant connect to MDM through SAP all we can do is data transfer from SAP to MDM use transaction code MDM_CLNT_EXTR.we dont have any SID for MDM.

Chander,
Please elaborate more what is this WTS? Is it related to some Web Protocol?
MDM system is not abap based system like R3/ECC etc.. It does not have 3 digit system id like other systems. As per my understanding, we can not login from SAP Logon Pad into MDM. If you want to integrate an SAP system to MDM, you have to use ABAP APIs of MDM. using those you can just explore MDM components from R3 side. For that you need to install a patch on R3 side.
Again MDM generic extractors are another way to extract data from R3/ECC system, this will be an integration between MDM and R3 using PI/XI.
You can search MDM forum there more than enough threads for abap apis and generic extractors.
Please provide more inputs, so that we can rethink on it.
BR,
Alok
