Information Required regarding Handling of BOM

Hi,

Can BOM's be handled for materials having Life Cycle in SAP MDM ? If yes, How ? Is SAP PLM better in dealing with BOM's ?

You can have the BOM information in MDM using the Relationships. However be aware that you can't syndicate the Relationships information using MDM Syndicator. You will have to write your custom program using Java API if you have to send the information out to some other system.

Hi Susil,

You can use Parent/Child relationship to maintain the BOM.Also Display field of the main table plays the important role in case of relationships i.e. all the display fields will appear in the output file when you export the relationship table from the Data Manager.

Go to the Record Mode -> Editing Relationships

Hi Sushil

I think PLM is better option for handling BOM master data as in MDM we cannot have different versions of data.MDM always stores the latest version with updated data.The workaround is to see the change tracking once it has been enabled.

Again additional to BOM's the customer have the engineering products. And the materials have the life cycle.
