Demand Planning is nothing but a long term planning system which uses statistical models to get the final forecast results. It is a part of APO system. The main advantage of this system is all about the consensuses forecast can be get generated.
When you have a long term planning business DP is used to identify the market demand. This statistical forecast is generated with respect to the history data availability and more data you have you will get more accurate demand. For the recent period you will get the most accurate results with respect to the immediate previous data.
There is a provision to find Promotional product demand as well. When the DP data is released to Supply network planning it gets narrowed down to Monthly and weekly data, as well when it released to PPDS again narrowed down to daily data.
