Solution Manager - IMG Projects - Workflow based transports - CTS Projects

Hi,

We are using Solman 4.0 during configuration of ECC 6.0. From the IMG projects tab under system landscape in SAP Solution Manager project we have created a CTS project to hold the transport requests that are created during configuration.

Later we decided to enable workflow based import of transport requests. So we have created multiple CTS Projects in ECC 6.0 and created rule to whom the tranport proposal has to go for approval basing on the CTS Project the transport request is attached to.

But now when we are trying to configure ECC following the blue print placed in solution manager it is restricting to attach to only those transport requests which are in CTS Project attached to it in the IMG projects tab.

Now that we can't attach multiple projects there in solution manager we are facing trouble in co-existing workflow based transports and solution manager based configuration.

Please suggest if we can attach multiple CTS projects to a Solution Manager project.

Can we mandate that all configurations under business scenario should go into a particular CTS Project?

This way we can easily divide transport requests into different CTS Projects and enable workflow automated transports basing on the CTS Projects they are attached to..

Please suggest.

Thanks & Regards

Hi Mrutyunjay,

As far as I know, you can only attach one CTS project per Solution Manager Project.

The idea is that for each different project you have for your satellite systems you´ll have to have one Solution Manager project.

This way you can use the features on Solution Manager side to control all changes ( for instance, using Change Request Management ).

Part of the CTS functionalities that we have on standard SAP installations are being migrated to Solution Manager controls.

So, you can have as many CTS projects you need on your ECC as long as you have their correspondent Solution Manager projects.

Based on ITIL standards, Solution Manager is the central point to control all changes you make in your systems.

Thanks Valdecir for the reply.

Currently we are in implementation.. and we dont want to enable change request management now.. during support we can handle changes with Change request management..

Now that we want to handle transports using workflow this problem araised... currently we are attaching changes to the CTS project attached to the Solution manager and before releasing them we are reassigning them to a different project.... which is additional work..!!!!
