Item Usage

Hi,

In Cust Material Info records, I filled the field Item usage as FREE. But when creating the sales order, with the same customer and same material, system throws a error saying that no Item category could be determined.

What is the purpose of this field in CMIR?

Hi

CMIR is useful as below.

1. While determining plant in the sales order, system will check first whether maintained in the CMIR.

2.CMIR is useful to maintain the customer specific material name.

3. In VD51 (Enter Customer Material no. then our material no. so when we create the so with the cust. mat. the system automatically takes our mat. too in the order.)

Iam not in front of SAP system, please check for the item category assignments, whether the combination of item category group, sales doc type and usage is properly assigned.

I checked the item category assignment in VOV4 and everything is fine.

Any advices?

Ajit,

Check for the itemcategory assignment for

+Order type + itemcategory group + usage (FREE) + H itemcategory + item category+ and analyse the same with the order.

Hi,

I checked the same. the assignments are fine.

In the order, the system showing a error msg:

No item category available (Table T184 OR NORM FREE ).

I checked the table in SE16 and the assignment is fine.

Suggestions please.

Hi ajit

As you have assigned Free in the item usage in VD51 and while creating a sales order system will give a error message .So in VOV4

OR+ NORM+ FREE+ - = TANN which is a standard one and is there in VOV4

But you if you need to determine for TAN then in VOV4 then determine OR+ NORM+ FREE+ - = TAN

Then system will not throw an error
