Hi all,
System Info : I'm using "SAP NetWeaver 70 - Java and ABAP VMware Trial"
Following advice from earlier replies, I've created a program (ZTEST) in a package named ZPACKAGE with a transport order.
Now, I've clicked the little lorry "transport" icon from SE80 (Transport tab).
Now, when I go into SE10, I can see:
http://www.geocities.com/agalacy/sap_vmware_transport.JPG
My TO is N4SK90004.
Now, my question is what do I do to find this TO on the disk, copy it to be able to import it back into another NetWeaver.
An article I've found talks about using a program called "tp", which is designed to import/export TOs. Can someone give me some help with this ?
Thanks.
Angela
Hello Angela,
Go to your trasnport directory of the source system and look for the direcories data and cofiles.
inside of cofiles you will find a file named K90004.N4S
inside of data you will find a file named R90004.N4S
Copy them into the same directories of the target system, then go to STMS and select the queue of the system where you want to include those transport rquests, once you are into the queue Goto teh main menu Extras---> Other Request ---> Add
then the system opens a little window where you should specify the name N4SK90004 and then check the box "import again", finally just click on "Continue" button.

Thanks a lot for this help.
As you can see on this picture of my file system:
http://www.geocities.com/agalacy/sap_vmware_transport2.JPG
I dont have the files in the folders. Is there a transactions/command/button to ask SAP to create these files ?
If you want, I can repeat my full procedure and note exactly what I do so you can tell me where I might have gone wrong. But basically this is what I remember I did:
SE80 : Create package ZPACKAGE (TO was created sometime on the fly while doing this, the TO name was generated automatically)
SE80 : Create program ZTEST in package ZPACKAGE
SE10 : I freed the TO by clicking on the lorry icon
Tell me if you think this is wrong and Ill redo it to give exact description.
I really need this to work so I can start my real developments.
Thanks again from the help.
Angela
Hi Jorge, and thanks for your helpful replies....
I feel I'm nearly there and I'd really like to get passed this final step (export from one NW and import into another). Then I can start my real developments...
following your post, here's what I observe :
On this picture (SE10) it looks like my TO is released :
http://www.geocities.com/agalacy/sap_vmware_transport3.JPG
This shows the status of my TO (Released) and the log file from the release (which I found today).
And on this one I can't find the files :
http://www.geocities.com/agalacy/sap_vmware_transport3.JPG
Also, I've done a few searches with things like :
find / -name "N4SK90000" -print
find / -name "90000" -print
But with these all I find is the log files. So, I'm just about sure the files don't exist.
I've searched on the web and I've read about a TPPARAM file. It looks like I don't have this at all... Also, in the log the path says "tp", could this be the problem ?
Thanks for some help. If anyone sees anything wrong, please let me know. Also, I can provide any other information (and redo the process).
Angela
Hi,
I can't remember what happened... I'm starting up my VMWare right now to replay the scenario (with a new package, a new TO, a new program etc) and pay attention to the "queue" aspect...
Also, I'll write down exactly what I do and post it here so maybe you see what I'm doing wrong.
This will probably take an our or so I guess.
I'll be back. Thanks.
Angela
Hi Jorge,
Here's a list of 14 images showing what I do:
http://www.geocities.com/agalacy/transport.zip
Basically, here's what I do in the images:
Startup VMWare
Run "startsap n4shost"
Connect with SAPGUI, developer/developer
In SE80:
Create package ZPACKAGE2 (and the TO is created here)
Create program ZTEST2 and activate it
In SE10, Release ZTEST2 then ZPACKAGE
The pictures show most the dialogs I get and what I put in them.
I looked at STMS for the queue stuff, but it looks like this is for importing. Where else should I look ?
Do you see why I get no files in "cofiles" and "data" at the end ?
Thanks again for your help.
Angela
mmmmm, very weird.
could you go to STMS and then press (shift+F6) to get an screen shoot and show us how is it.
I think that the transport directory is not in the same system of N4S.
Once you are in the system overview, click twice on N4S system, then go to transport tool tab and get an other screen shoot from there.
Regards,
Jorge.
Hi Jorge,
I've done the pictures you mentioned (and discovered some more interesting screens of SAP at the same time ). Here they are:
http://www.geocities.com/agalacy/stms.JPG
http://www.geocities.com/agalacy/system_overview.JPG
http://www.geocities.com/agalacy/n4s_transport_tool.JPG
The path "/usr/sap/trans" seems ok, but the files aren't in there... What's strange is that the log file is created.
What do you think of this ?
Angela
Hello Angela,
I've been checking the pictures you sent, and I just noticed something, I don't konw how is in Linux, but usually on NT the configuration for TRANSDIR in the transport tool tab is as show the picture below:
Also check your profile parameters via RZ10 that you have set the parameter DIR_TRANS.
Jorge
If there is no profiles, once you are in the RZ10, go to main menu: Utilities --> Import Profiles --> Of Active Servers.
Then try to open the profile once again, you should find a profile name like "N4S_DVEBMGS00_n4shost" open it and verify if you have the parameter DIR_TRANS, if not set it.
Regards,
Jorge.
Oh dear, despite all your help, it's still not working, I've replayed my scenario, and still no new files in "cofiles" and "data"...

Picture 3 shows the newly created variable
What else could be wrong ? Any other ideas ?
Do you think I should try replacing "/usr/sap/trans" by "//usr/sap/trans" ?
Angela
well, what we are gonig to do is to create a virtual system in order to assign it as target system of those reansport requests.
once you create the virtual system, configure the transport routes, then go to SE09 and verify if the virtual system is the target system of the transport requests.
if you have any question regarding to it, please let me know.
Regards,
Jorge.
Hi,
Ok, this sounds interisting. Just, where should I start to "create a virtual system" ? Is their a transaction in which this is done or has it to do with the installation phase, or is this done from the SAP GUI initial screen (with the new/edit/delete/connect buttons) ? I've searched around a little in the menus and not found anything.
Angela
once you have created the virtual system, configure the transport route.
go to STMS then press (shift+f7), then go to main menu, Configuration --> Standard configuration --> Development and production system.
The system is going to request for development system, assign N4S system, then in Production system assign the virtual system. Finally press continue, save and distribute and activate the configuration across all systems.
Regards,
Jorge.
Thanks for the instructions Jorge and Shaji.
I've followed them (with account "developer"), only one difference Shaji, I didn't get prompted any login/pass, I just got the screen "pic0" and used SHR as the name for my virtual system :
http://www.agalacy.somee.com/pic0.JPG
Then pic1 is after saving.
http://www.agalacy.somee.com/pic1.JPG
pic2 when I double click on SHR.
http://www.agalacy.somee.com/pic2.JPG
But now, as you can see in in pic3, the "Configuration --> Standard configuration --> Development and production system" function isn't accessible:
http://www.agalacy.somee.com/pic3.JPG
Why is that (note : I've also tried with login/pass SAP*/sapn4sadm) ?
Angela
oops, I forgot to tell you something, before to go to STMS then press (shift+f7), then go to main menu, Configuration --> Standard configuration --> Development and production system.
Go to STMS then press (shift+f7), then go to main menu, Configuration --> Display <-> Change
Then try again.
Regards,
Jorge.
Hi Jorge,
Good news !!!!!! Things are much better now :
http://www.agalacy.somee.com/have_transport_files.JPG
The files are now there in cofiles and data (N4S ones)!
This is great, I'm really pleased we've got through this.
Now, next step of course will be importing them back into another NW.
If you have any quick suggestions for this they're welcome. In the meantime I'll look aroung myself a little (between SE10 and STMS in particular).
However, for now I'll close this question and mark it as replied. Thanks again !
Happy Angela
